Cultural and gastronomic tour of Funchal
We offer you a cultural and gastronomic tour of Funchal on foot from 9 am to 1 pm. We will discuss 600 years of history including: the importance of the cultivation of sugar cane, the "white gold" of the 15th century.
which attracted a certain Christopher Columbus, today cultivated to produce internationally awarded rum, the trade in the famous and much appreciated Madeira wine, this complex nectar which ages as well as Port wine, the importance and ingenuity of these "Levadas" irrigation canals created to overcome the unequal distribution of resources in water and which are today traveled by hikers from all over the world. On the program, several gourmet stops that will allow you to taste typical local specialties: bread, pastries, drinks, seasonal fruits, tasting of Madeira wines and other spirits in the cellar of an old Anglican church (lunch at an additional cost); but also the picturesque little streets, the painted doors of the old town, the colorful garden which give so much charm and character to this town with its unique sweetness of life.
